N2 - Under the paving stones, a stone with carving was discovered. It was located a bit below the level of the floor, and a bit protruded from under the stones that were missing in the center of that place. When we cleaned some of the dust that was above it, revealed before us was a large menorah, in the form of the menorah of the Temple in every detail, as it is written in the book of Exodus, chapter 25 and chapter 37. It is made of limestone similar to marble (and not local stone, in any event). . . . I realized that, before me was a menorah made exactly in the form of the holy menorah, which served in the ancient synagogue, and which has been hidden away for reasons on which I will return. The significance of this discovery gave me hope in my heart for future finds (fig. 1).
