Abstract

The article discusses the meaning of the art installation "Narcissus Garden" by Yayoi Kusama, which has appeared in a variety of locations around the world. Topics include a discussion of Japanese mythological stories; religious scriptures, including works of Zen buddhism, Shinto and Shingon esoteric Buddhism; and classical Japanese poetry.
