Abstract

We introduce the new Texas A&M - University of Haifa - Eastern Mediterranean Marine Observatory (THEMO). Including two sensory arrays for shallow and deep water with realtime data transmission to shore, THEMO is currently the most advanced marine observatory in the Eastern Mediterranean regime. THEMO is aimed to serve as an offshore platform that supplies oceanography, chemical, biological, meteorological, and acoustic data. The data is freely shared over the THEMO website themo.haifa.ac.il. In this paper, we introduce the operation of THEMO, discuss its technical details, and present its quality assurance algorithms.
