title = "The Source of Southern Levantine Hellenistic Silver and Lead",
abstract = "A silver bowl, which dates to the early second century BCE, and eight samples of leaded bronzes dating to early first century BCE, were analyzed for chemical and lead-isotopic analysis. Results suggest that the metals originated from various Aegean ores, including Laurion and Chalkidiki and/or Thasos. The results therefore suggest that multiple Greek ores supplied silver and lead to the southern Levant throughout the Hellenistic period (second and early first centuries BCE). It is further suggested that Laurion was a significant source of lead to the southern Levant in the early first century BCE. A larger database is needed to further establish these suggestions.",
