The Kramers-Kronig receiver: A coherent receiver based on intensity detection and phase recovery

Abstract

We review the operation principles and the various implementations of the Kramers-Kronig receiver. We show that this scheme allows reconstructing the complexvalued optical field impinging upon the receiver by means of intensity detection and digital phase retrieval.
