Abstract
The research explores how the Bible turned into a literary model for the French writers of the modern era, like Stéphane Mallarmé, Edmond Jabès and Claude Vigée. The Bible was seen by those writers as the ideal book, whose content inspired literary creation. Our article examines the way the ideal or total book was perceived as a model to follow by the literary creation of the modern times.
