Stern-Gerlach Effect for Photons

Abstract

We demonstrate theoretically the existence of a Stern-Gerlach effect for single photons in a quadratic nonlinear medium. The new effect enables the spatial separation of orthogonal frequency superposition states and might open new possibilities for the manipulation of bichromatic qubits.
