Spontaneous emission from a wide quantum electron

Abstract

We show that the azimuthal distribution of emitted light in the Smith-Purcell interaction does not depend on the width of the electron wavefunction, thus providing direct evidence for the probabilistic interpretation of the electron wavefunction.
