SOME TECTONO-GEODYNAMICAL FEATURES OF THE EURASIAN-AFRICAN REGION

Abstract

The Eurasian-Arabian-African region contains intricate geodynamical features (high seismological indicators, active rift systems and collision processes), complex tectonic arrangement (mosaic location of blocks of oceanic and continental Earth's crust of various age), high-amplitude gravity anomalies, complex magnetic pattern and inexplicable setting of GPS parameters. The most hydrocarbon reserves (as well other kinds of economic minerals) of the world occur in this region. Satellite gravity map analysis is well linked with the tectonic setting. Paleomagnetic mapping, as it was shown on example of the Eastern Mediterranean, may be a reliable instrument of tectonogeodynamic examination of Earth crust structure. Integrated interpretation of gravity, magnetic and paleomagnetic data, geoid's isoline behaviour and GPS setting enabled to revisit some tectono-geodynamic peculiarities of the region under study.
