Abstract
The SIGPLAN Professional Activities Committee (PAC) provides scholarships to attend SIGPLAN sponsored conferences and workshops. The grants are aimed towards SIGPLAN excellence and make sure that SIGPLAN members and students can always come to present their work at SIGPLAN conferences, even when travel grants are low at their local institute. PAC grants are requested via a designated web site and support travel to all SIGPLAN-sponsored and incorporation conferences, and a majority of the grants are given to fund student participation in SIGPLANs major conferences including POPL, PLDI, ICFP, and OOPSLA. By January 2011, awards were already granted at the accumulated sum of $35,000. PAC awards were accompanied by NSF support for students travel to major SIGPLAN conferences, allowing even more students to actively participate in SIGPLAN conferences.
