Retardation in Service of Real Time Fault Detection and Location

Abstract

A new method for short circuit fault detection and location is proposed using instantaneous voltage measurement. Faults are described in terms of lumped fault models and also by distributed models using the telegraph equations. Those equations are solved analytically resulting in a description of the short propagating in the transmission line.
