Abstract
The article talks about selected passages from two recreations of the A minor trio sonata by composer Sampson Estwick. The two recreations refer to one by a young musicologist named Alan Howard and another by the author's. Presented by the article are analysis of the range of possible interpretations of some passages in the sur-viving part and discussion of how contrapuntal technique guides harmonic thinking and vice versa
