Realizing a variable isotropic depolarizer

Abstract

We demonstrate an isotropic depolarizing channel with controlled degree of depolarization. The depolarizer is composed of four birefringent crystals. Quantum process tomography of the depolarizing channel agrees well with the theoretical prediction.
