Abstract

While scholars have identified a number of job characteristics and employment-related factors associated with employee sleep problems, little is known about how these factors affect sleep among older workers. The study reported in this chapter addresses this research gap. Using data from a multi-wave study of retirement-eligible, blue-collar workers (ages 52-81), the findings shed light on how and when a number of risk factors associated with the older employee work experience such as financial strain and retirement concerns may be associated with self-reported sleep problems.
