Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

In this article, samples of traditional Krymchak Turkic texts, mostly from the 18th century, are brought together. The texts include parts of traditional Turkic translations into the Crimean-Turkic dialect of the Krymchak Rabbanite Jews as found in their handwritten prayer books from the Ukrainian National Vernadsky Library, with parallels from the early 20th century editions; a prayer for the well-being of the Ottoman Sultan, the Crimean Khan, the Noble Ka’abah and the Enlightened Medina, the Ottoman army and fleet (the author of this prayer tried to write Ottoman Turkish); and other texts
