Abstract
The subject of this chapter is Poh1 peptidase. The PSMD14 peptidase is a zinc-dependent metallo-isopeptidase that releases ubiquitin (Ub) from tagged proteins. PSMD14 is a component of the 19S regulatory particle of the 26S proteasome complex. Proteins tagged with Ub are destined for degradation by the proteasome, but the Ub tag has to be removed and the protein unfolded before it can enter through the proteasome pore.
