Abstract

Optical tweezers are widely employed tools enabling progress in a wide range of disciplines including biophysics and many others. A standard layout of optical tweezers relies on employment of tightly focused Gaussian beams. One more widely studied class of optical trapping devices is plasmonic tweezers. A two-in-one trapping system when a beam is focused on a metal substrate is considered here. We show that operation of optical tweezers with metal substrates might change under the condition of plasmon excitation at the planar metal surface.
