Abstract

We analyze plane-wave scattering off metasurfaces (MSs) with sinusoidally-modulated normal magnetic susceptibilities. To this end, the typical continued-fraction formalism is rigorously generalized to cover relevant irregular stability conditions, and validated via full-wave simulations. It is observed that the scattering of the dominant Floquet mode exhibits a resonant angular notch due to strong coupling into surface-wave modes. In the future, such spatially-modulated normal components are expected to enhance the performance of MSs and aid controlling their angular response.
