N2 - The discipline of psychology covers many fields under its professional umbrella (e.g., cognitive, social, clinical, neuropsychological). Too often discussions of research and theory are conducted in one field with almost no connection to any of the other fields. While this strategy creates specialization and expertise, it leaves little space for reevaluation or reexamination of basic assumptions inside a particular field. This paper wishes to challenge this tradition by creating a conversation in which participatory action research (PAR) is looked at from the perspective of clinical psychology.
