Abstract

This richly illustrated and enhanced e-book explores how Ori Gersht intertwines the latest digital technology with historical sources as diverse as 19th-century Romantic landscape painting and the Holocaust to create his achingly beautiful photographs and videos. In addition to 85 illustrations and 14 video clips of his art, it features original footage of the artist discussing his work surrounded by the beginnings of new projects, and insightful texts by leading experts in contemporary art, photography, and cinema. Gersht’s practice unfolds as one that bridges a his-tory full of traumas and pushes photographic media to the limits of what it can record.
