Abstract

This chapter details how calibration and estimation work in the realm of large networks. The chapter is mainly related to OD estimation, which is arguably the most important step before applying a simulation model (whether microscopic or macroscopic) to a certain study question. Section 6.1 deals with the calibration of network models in general. Section 6.2 covers demand models, followed by details on supply models in Section 6.3. Section 6.4 presents a joint calibration of demand and supply models. The chapter ends with a summary in Section 6.5.
