Abstract

Conveying particles by a carrier fluid in pipelines has considerable advantages, such as continuous transport, energy efficiency, safety, and dust control. However, two major drawbacks exist with this process: particle attrition, and pipeline erosion that could defect the product quality and cause system failure. For this reason, it is essential to minimize these problems by optimizing the design of the system prior to construction and working with optimized operating conditions. But in practice, the optimization process by prediction of either erosion or breakage is complicated and time consuming tasks. [from the text]
