N2 - We demonstrate how the medium with the hyperbolic isofrequency surfaces in the wavevector space can be realized by two-dimensional artificial transmission lines. The peculiar character of wave propagation in such a hyperbolic medium is visualized by the study of the cross-like emission pattern of a current source. Our results are supported by the direct solution of the Kirchhoff equations and an analytical theory.
