Abstract

The number of malware is constantly growing. Better detection techniques need to be developed to keep detection times as short as possible and to reduce the cost of malware attacks. Malicious programs use a variety of techniques to avoid detection. Each technique has been developed as a countermeasure to a particular method of detection. This chapter introduces analytical techniques and their countermeasures so that the reader can understand the evolution of armaments between the two research camps.
