title = "L1 adaptive control integrated missile autopilot and guidance",
abstract = "An output feedback L1 adaptive controller is designed and applied to the integrated missile guidance and control problem. A two-dimensional simulation of the missile lateral dynamics and nonlinear relative kinematics is used to evaluate and compare the performance of di?erential-game-based guidance law and proportional navigation to integrated L1 adaptive control based missile guidance and control. The effectiveness of these guidance and control strategies is compared on the basis of terminal miss distance and the zero-effort miss, which is taken from the differential game based formulation of the missile guidance problem. The output feedback L1 adaptive controller demonstrates robustness to significant changes in the missile dynamics (up to ±50% change in the missile model parameters), while minimizing the zero-effort miss and outperforming the other guidance and control strategies used in this comparison.",
