Abstract
The aim of this article is to analyze the psychological process of human choice in the thought of Rabbi Hillel of Verona (died approximately in 1295). The first part of the article shows how, according to Rabbi Hillel, God created humans in the endeavor that they will be good and submit to their intellect over their other faculty. Evil is an accident of people therefore choosing good is essentially different than choosing evil. The second part of the article compares this opinion of Rabbi Hillel to the theory of his three major's sources: Averroes; Maimonides and Thomas of Aquinas.
