La médiation dans l'Orléans médiéval : le "responsum" 241 de Rachi

This article analyzes Responsum 241 by Rabbi Solomon ben Isaac of Troyes (Rachi, d. 1105). The responsum describes a legal dispute between two Jews in 11th century Orléans. The claims and counterclaims of the disputants shed light on their commercial practices and forms of mediation. The affair also highlights the important Jewish ties between medieval Orléans and Paris and provides some information about the position of leadership occupied by Rachi of Troyes in the larger region of northern France.
