Abstract

With this book we wish to demonstrate how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to fight the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic-the currently fifth deadliest in recorded human history-and future pandemics. AI techniques have led to significant breakthroughs in all areas of science and technology ranging from autonomous driving and finance to marketing and healthcare, just to name a few. In this book we will focus on how AI can have a transformative impact on pandemics, and in particular on COVID-19. The book covers a comprehensive and updated range of application areas for the use of AI in this field.
