Abstract
Personality pathology is ubiquitous, impairing, and associated with high mental health burden both for the person experiencing it and those surrounding them. Recent developments in classifying personality pathology, such as the Alternative Model of Personality Disorders (AMPD), emphasize a dimensional approach encompassing both impaired personality functioning and pathological personality traits. Such broad, dimensional models call for an examination of transdiagnostic mechanisms that may underlie personality pathology.
