Abstract

During September 2012, a trial excavation was conducted in the southern well at Kal‘at Al Mina, which is the Ashdod-Yam citadel (License No. G-75/2012; map ref. 16420–50/63210–300; HA 36:26 [Hebrew]; HA-ESI 112:101*–103*; Nachlieli 2008). The excavation, on behalf of the Institute of Archaeology of Tel Aviv University, was directed by O. Tal and R. Vunsh, with the assistance of A. Eisenberg-Gross, Y. Gil, Y. Drey, S. Ganor, S. Nudel, D. Nachlieli, E. Nissenbaum, N. Paran, E. Fuks, K. Raphael and O. Sadot, with the participation of students of the Department of Maritime Civilizations of the University of Haifa.
