Abstract
A Palestinian monk, born in the village of Thabatha, south of Gaza , where he founded his monastery . He died in Cyprus . Jerome wrote the Life of Hilarion ( c .390), inspired by the Latin version of the Life of Antony by Evagrius of Antioch ( c . 375 ), and by a letter written by Epiphanius of Salamis ( c . 315–403 ). Sozomen provided a brief biography of Hilarion as part of his survey of monasticism and the conversion of his family to Christianity
