Abstract
Nabi Musa is one of the localities of the Hatrurim Complex in the Judean Desert and Judean-Samarian Mountains, Israel. The almost complete cross section of the Nabi Musa outcrop has been revealed during road-cut construction. This is a funnel-shaped body composed of combustion metamorphic rocks and vertical pipe-like channels filled by breccias. Funnel-shaped body is included into low-temperature hydrothermal rocks and sedimentary chalky rocks. Rocks subjected to combustion metamorphism gain increased magnetization and density. The magnetic and radioactive field measurements were performed along several road cuts crossing the Nabi Musa outcrop at different hypsometric levels. The magnetic field pattern is most similar for the diatreme-like body with increased magnetic field values at borders and minimal values in the center. The study provides the data on rock sample magnetization, density, and radioactivity. The residual gravity negative anomalies show almost perfect spatial correspondence to the location of the Hatrurim Complex outcrops. It implies that low-density hydrocarbon-rich zones and traps exist below the outcrops of the Hatrurim Complex.
