Abstract

The need to solve a linear multi-frequency acoustic problem of a moving source over a flat ground with variable impedance occur in various domains, where the analysis of Sound Pressure Level (SPL) distribution near the ground for a given source spectrum is of interest. Since the human hearing range is relatively wide, one has to repeatedly solve the Helmholtz equation in the upper half space for many different waves length. To this end, an efficient Helmholtz solver must be used. In recent years, basic Fictitious Sources Method (FSM) has been used to solve acoustics and electromagnetics wave problems. The efficiency of FSM for the case of a flat ground with constant impedance was proven in previous works. The use of FSM for a ground with variable impedance on a flat ground is demonstrated here, alongside a dedicated algorithm enabling the evaluation of the real error generated by the FSM.
