Femtosecond inscription of phase-shifted gratings by exploiting fiber strain

Abstract

We apply controlled fiber strain during the inscription of two different Bragg gratings, one over the other, with femtosecond pulses and a phase-mask. High quality phase-shifted gratings are obtained in a simple and robust manner.
