Faunal Remains from Area C

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This chapter presents the Iron IIC (Stratum C-3) faunal assemblage from Kiriath-Jearim in the context of its most interesting and enigmatic feature, Installation 17/C/40. In order to analyze the function of the installation—a well plastered stone-built channel—the interpretation is divided into two contexts: Faunal remains found in close proximity to the installation (labeled “installation”), and those retrieved from other loci of Stratum C-3 (labeled “general”). It should be noted from the outset that the results of the comparison between the two contexts should be evaluated with caution due to the small size of the samples.
