Factors influencing the adoption of greywater systems among people living in multi-family dwellings in Israel

The following study att empts to evaluate the factors that stimulate potential customers to adopt greywater recycling systems (GWRSs) or hinder them from doing so. Our study was based on a consumer survey covering 267 respondents living in multifamily dwellings in residential buildings. The case study results suggest that 65 per cent of the households have positive or very positive att itudes towards GWRSs, 20 per cent are neutral, and only 15 per cent expressed negative or very negative att itudes. We found that concern for the environment is the main reason for adopting GWRSs, while fear of possible infections and low water quality are the main reasons for avoiding them. Thus, the policies aimed at encouraging the use of GWRSs shouldfocus on resolving concerns associated with water quality factors while highlighting their contribution to the environment.
