Abstract

The study includes a development of the seekerhead dynamics model, conventional proportional-integral-derivative (PID), sliding-mode control (SMC), and supertwisting SMC (STSMC) controllers. The seeker line of sight (LOS) performance with the developed controllers has been evaluated using numerical simulation and laboratory tests. The comparison has demonstrated the advantage of the nonlinear higher-order SMC methods in meeting system performance characteristics, given system uncertainty and disturbances.
