Abstract

We report the first realization of an anti-parity-time symmetric optical potential supporting a 2nd-order exceptional point in standard optical fibers. Phase-transition, symmetry-breaking and coalescence of supermodes are observed when Brillouin optomechanical coupling exceeds the wavenumber-mismatch.
