Entropy of mixing as a stabilization factor of the cubic phase of Scandium doped zirconia

Abstract

Entropy of mixing in scandium doped zirconia is calculated to be 8–12 J/mol·K. At temperatures characteristic of phase transitions in the cubic phase of this material, the entropy of mixing is considered an important factor in the decrease of the transition temperature.
