Enhancement of SPM spectral broadening by slow self-focusing nonlinearity in homogeneous media

Abstract

We demonstrate experimentally 400 times enhancement of SPM spectral broadening in bulk crystal by self-focusing nonlinearity that responds only to the time-averaged intensity. The slow nonlinearity enhances and stabilizes the broadening by suppressing the diffraction.
