Engineering optical density of states with nonlocal metamaterials

We present theoretical, numerical, and experimental analysis of optical density of states in plasmonic nanowire metamaterials. Averaged Purcell factors of the order of 30, attributed to nonlocal electromagnetic response of metamaterials, are reported.
