Abstract

Molecular recognition is at the heart of the noncovalent synthesis of supramolecular assemblies and, at higher length scales, supramolecular materials. In a recent publication in Nature, Stoddart and co-workers demonstrate that the formation of host-guest complexes can be catalyzed by one of the simplest possible catalysts: the electron.
