Abstract

This chapter summarizes the basic electrochemical behavior of magnesium anodes in electrolytic solutions with respect to their possible utilization in rechargeable magnesium batteries. The basic hurdles in the development of feasible electrolytic solution systems are discussed, along with past and recent advancement in this field. Attention is also paid to the literature, both scientific and industrial. Potential future directions based on current knowledge are discussed in the concluding section.
