Abstract

Dispersal is a process common to all organisms, and it is highly variable in details among organisms and across space and time. At large spatial or temporal scales, this process has broad implications for biogeography through both long- and short-distance dispersal events. The study of the relationships between dispersal and the geographic distribution of organisms, advanced by various methodological approaches, is critical to our understanding of forces affecting the world's biodiversity.
