Abstract
The formation of methylammonium lead iodide (CH3NH3PbI3) nanostructures inside porous silicon nanotubes with a wall thickness of 10 nm and possessing inner diameters of either 70 or 200 nm were reported. SiNTs are fabricated by a sacrificial template method involves the initial formation of ZnO NW array templates on substrates such as silicon wafers or FTO glass. The substrates were previously treated with ZnO nanocrystal seeds. ZnO NWs growth is achieved by exposing the ZnO seed-coated substrate to a mixture of 0.02 M Zn(NO3) 2 and 0.02 M hexametylenetetramine for 9 h in order to produce ZnO nanowires 70 nm in diameter. The PL and the absorption spectra of perovskite-loaded SiNTs show unique characteristics, which can be assigned to the size and the dimensionality of the CH3NH3PbI3 nanorods, most notably the effect of the stress at the perovskite-silicon interface of these nanostructures that are characterized by a large surface-to-volume ratio.
