Abstract
In the workplace, the need for anger management interventions arises when professional functioning of a certain worker is hindered, affecting both the individual suffering from anger issues and their work environment. This chapter reviews the literature on anger-related cognitive biases, as well as cognitive bias modification and its effectiveness as applied to different components of anger and aggressive behavior. Although this topic has been widely researched in various contexts, and mainly in relation to anxiety and traumatic stress, anger-related cognitive biases and their manifestation in the workplace have not been directly explored. However, the extant information can offer meaningful insights for anger in the workplace and for high-risk occupations in particular, in which high stress and exposure to extreme and potentially traumatic events are routine. The chapter also reviews data on the interplay between anger and cognitive biases and on their potential influence on functioning in the workplace.
