Abstract
Chronic kidney disease is irreversible and progressive. Quality of medical care and owner commitment are major determinants of treatment success. Controlling all clinical pathophysiologic consequences is a key. When the disease is advanced, alternatives that can be considered are the use of feeding tubes, chronic dialysis, and transplantation.
