Abstract

Chemical protein synthesis is a great approach for accessing challenging proteins, such as post-translationally modified proteins, proteins with unnatural amino acids, and proteins with rare natural amino acids such as selenoproteins. In this book chapter we will discuss the recent advances in the chemical synthesis of selenoproteins, as well as the unique chemistry of selenopeptides and selenoproteins.
