Abstract

We developed the Eyelid Motion Monitor (EMM), a prototype system for monitoring eyelid motion. The three main components of the system are a tiny magnet located on the upper eyelid, a hardware system designed for real-time electromagnetic signal acquisition, and a dedicated software for analyzing the signal and translating it into data. We used the EMM to collect clinical data about eyelid motion of healthy subjects, and to extract characterizing parameters. By monitoring eyelid kinematics, the EMM facilitates diagnosis of diseases and medical conditions.
