Abstract

From July to October 2012, a trial excavation was conducted near the old Bezeq compound at Apollonia (East) in Nof Yam (Permit No. A-6549; map ref. 182256–3052/677516–8371), followed in June–August 2013 by a salvage excavation (Permit No. A-6825) that was carried out prior to construction. The excavations, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and Tel Aviv University and financed by the Israel Lands Authority through the Yahel Engineers Project Initiation Company, Ltd., were directed by E. Haddad (trial excavation) and O. Tal and M. Ajami (salvage excavation), with the participation of T. Harpak and the assistance of H. Agha and M. Pines (archaeozoology), H. Mienes and O. Rittner (molluscs), P. Gendelman (pottery reading), Sky View Company (aerial photography), E. Ayalon (agricultural industrial installations), D. Barkan (scientific consultation), A. Keinan and A. Moshe (safety), M. Avrahami and A. Ronkin (conservation), R. Jackson-Tal (glass), Y. Kupershmidt (metallurgical laboratory), C. Amit and P. Shrago (studio photography) and students from Tel Aviv University field archaeologist’s training track. Volunteers from Israel and abroad and pupils from schools participating in the Educational Archaeological Center of the Israel Antiquities Authority comprised the labor force.
